Smed Jorgensen Attorneys at Law and SJG Consulting & SJG Financial have launched a unique project in partnership with BERKAT to support Afghan women in four of the most impoverished villages in Afghanistan.
The 'HELP 4 VILLAGES' project focuses on the villages of Childochtaron, Khairabád, Fakiro and Naunioz and works with the community at a grass root level to address the local inhabitant's own needs and desires. The project aims to give communities the tools and means to help themselves out of poverty, whilst promoting creativity, culture and local craftsmanship to the highest possible extent.
Women in these four villages work hard at their trade, producing bags and clothing using traditional methods of embroidery and sewing. However a lack of working machines means their work can be of less quality and more demanding. Inhabitants of these villages also suffer from a lack of food, water and basic health care.
This mutual project of Smed Jorgensen, SJG Consulting & Financial and BERKAT aims to provide financial means for BERKAT's activities in Afghanistan. The local crafts help to support the village community and improve women's lives by equipping them with the ability to read and write as well as business knowledge. With your support we hope to help more women and families in Afghanistan.
We welcome the support of others, whether towards the 'HELP 4 VILLAGES' project or towards BERKAT itself and for any donations made towards the project, Smed Jorgensen and SJG Consulting & Financial guarantee to simultaneously contribute the same amount. We will also subtract a minimum of CZK 200 from the administrative fee.
If you would like to receive more information about the project or about any of BERKAT's activities, please do not hesitate to contact our BERKAT coordinator. Alternatively, visit BERKAT at http://www.berkat.cz/sekce.php?id=19
