Economic Information (Moravia – Silesia Region)

The Moravian-Silesian region is one of the most dynamically developing regions in the Czech Republic. Currently, our country is experiencing investment inflows and economy growth. Economic analyses foresee our country to maintain long-term financial stability. Even last year the highest number of investment projects was directed to this region which simultaneously attracted the highest volume of investments (more than 54 billion Czech crowns).

Significant economic factors are constantly decreasing income taxes, state subsidies for foreign investors, relatively low costs and sufficient high qualified labor force (two technical universities in the Region and developed system of technical education).

The Region disposes of new industrial zones and prepares other projects and incentives which would be supported by both EU funds and the region. In the following period of 2007-2013 the region can draw financial means from the following subsidies.

Automotive industry

Czech Republic concentrates more automotive industry and its related branches than any other country in the worlds. It focuses on reseach and development projects more than other European countries.
Hyundai Motor (S.Korea) - Nošovice (Frýdek Místek) is expected to operate its business in 2009, estimated investment to be worth EUR 1 billion (CZK 28 billion), creating more than 3000 new jobs, producing annually 300.000 automobiles.

Steel industry

One of the biggest companies of the steel industry is the Mittal Steel Ostrava, a.s./previously named ISPAT Nová Huť, a.s./ This company belongs to one of the most significant exporters in the Czech Republic, exporting 59% of its products to 88 countries worldwide. Most of the products serve for building and automotive industry. Significant export article is the road barriers of which is Mittal Steel Ostrava the only manufacturer and the main supplier to the Czech and Slovak market.

Electronic industry

Second largest sector in Czech Republic. Production of electronic components, consumer products.

Chemical and pharmaceutical industry

Significant representative in the chemical industry is the group of companies Unipetrol in the areas of petrochemicals, agricultural chemistry, crude oil.
Production of chemical substances, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and other products, cleaning and cosmetic products.
Wide range of plastic products for all industry segments - production of automotive vehicles, construction industry, agriculture, food processing industry.

Production of textile products apart from clothing, production of knit and crochet products
